Bastian Balthazar is a shy boy who recently lost his mother and who is
known to have his head in the clouds, so to speak. As he runs into a library,
to hide from a group of bullies, he comes upon a book titled The NeverEnding
Story. As he starts reading it, he gets pulled into the tale of a young warrior
named Atreyu, who goes on a quest to save the fantastic world of Fantasia from
a dark force called Nothing.
This fantasy film is like a little poem filled with colorful and fantastical
characters. Looking at the special effects, The NeverEnding Story looks much
older than its actual age. Yes, it is over the top and cheesy, but it is sweet and
has a nice message. Not really my cup of tea, but an entertaining cute little
movie.
