Well, hello there, kind folks. If you’re visiting this blog of mine, I presume that you have a certain interest in the cinema. As for me, even since my early childhood, I have had a deep love of everything related to movies and television. As far as I can remember, I have been more at ease in front of a screen than in the yard, outside, playing. It is a great way to travel, though other people’s stories, without having to foot any kind of steep bill. Over the years, I feel that movie-watching has even fuelled my own creativity.

All that being said, I welcome you in my Cinephile’s Nest. I hope you enjoy it here, feel free to come back at any time. Here you will find reviews of current movies and older ones. TV shows also. Some classics that have remained some of my favourites, some that have disappointed me. I will use a very basic star (*) system to grade them from 1 to 5 (5 being sliced bread level). Remember, these are just my tastes. I will try to explain in each review what I liked about these particular movies, without giving spoilers.

I welcome you all here, enjoy yourself.

Ted (2012)

Genre: Comedy
Directed by: Seth MacFarlane
Cast: Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis
Running time: 106 minutes

John Bennett was a very lonely kid in the Boston area, without any friend. One night, he made the wish that the teddy bear he had just received for Christmas would come to life and be his friend forever: He did. Ted, the Teddy Bear, became a local celebrity, but, as it is the case for a lot of folks for whom fame comes at an early age, he grows up with many vices, such as drugs and loose women. Now a man, John Bennett has a low-end job and spends a lot of time smoking dope and watching TV with Ted, who is still his best bud. John’s girlfriend, Lori, on the other hand, wants her man to make a more serious commitment towards her and his work life.

The humor of Ted, the movie, is in the tradition of Family Guy, also created by Seth MacFarlane, who made his debut in motion picture direction here and who voiced the main character. The chemistry between MacFarlane and Wahlberg was solid. It was weird seeing Marky Mark going full force into such a comedic role. Mila Kunis was also a great addition. The casting of Giovanni Ribisi, as Donny, Ted’s stalker, was a great idea too. He was the right choice to bring the right blend of menace and comedy.

Some of the jokes in Ted missed the mark, but a great portion of them were laugh out loud funny. I love this movie very much.
