Rock guitarist and singer Jimi Hendrix may
have only spent 27 years on this earth, but he left an indelible mark on music.
This 2010 documentary, directed by Bob Smeaton, covers the life of the master
of the electric guitar, from his birth in Seattle, to his trip to England,
where he first gained some traction in the style of music he truly loved, and
to his return home, where he finally got the success he had coming.
Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child is filled with
archived footage of the man in concert and in interviews. Some of Jimi's writings
are also voice by none other than Bootsy Collins, funk bassist and member of
the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame.
This documentary is
a must see for fans of Hendrix. And those, like me, who just knew a moderate
amount of things about him will surely appreciate a more complete view of the
life and career of this amazing artist, who left us way too early.
