Well, hello there, kind folks. If you’re visiting this blog of mine, I presume that you have a certain interest in the cinema. As for me, even since my early childhood, I have had a deep love of everything related to movies and television. As far as I can remember, I have been more at ease in front of a screen than in the yard, outside, playing. It is a great way to travel, though other people’s stories, without having to foot any kind of steep bill. Over the years, I feel that movie-watching has even fuelled my own creativity.

All that being said, I welcome you in my Cinephile’s Nest. I hope you enjoy it here, feel free to come back at any time. Here you will find reviews of current movies and older ones. TV shows also. Some classics that have remained some of my favourites, some that have disappointed me. I will use a very basic star (*) system to grade them from 1 to 5 (5 being sliced bread level). Remember, these are just my tastes. I will try to explain in each review what I liked about these particular movies, without giving spoilers.

I welcome you all here, enjoy yourself.

Bored to Death (2009-2011)

Genre: TV / Comedy
Starring: Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis, Ted Danson
Number of seasons: 3

Jonathan Ames is a struggling novelist working as a journalist as he tries to find inspiration for a second book. After his girlfriend leaves him, Jonathan decides to moonlight as an unlicensed private investigator. His best friend Ray Hueston, a male genitalia-obsessed comic book artist, and George Christopher, the libertine magazine editor Jonathan works for and a father figure of sort for the young author, will assist the bored man in the new adventures that will come his way as a bumbling sleuth.

This 3 season series, originally aired on HBO, was created by the real Jonathan Ames, who wrote a fictional story using his real name for the main character. This show is off-beat and quirky, in a very charming way. The chemistry between the three main actors is solid on screen, and it was particularly nice to see Ted Danson on screen again.

Overall, this was a very entertaining show that lasted just long enough not to get stretched out too much. What we have here is a collection of 24 short episodes that are quite entertaining. There are also some interesting cameos to watch, from the likes of Mary Steenburgen, Olympia Dukakis, Patton Oswalt and Isla Fisher.
