This great 2011 documentary is about Jiro
Ono, a sushi chef who still operated his Michelin three star restaurant,
Sukiyabashi Jiro, in Japan, at the age of 85.
While the premise first made me wonder if
this film would be that interesting, I was pleasantly surprised. It is the
wonderful true story of a passionate man who persevered in life and worked hard
to achieve his goals. You can really feel the love Jiro has for sushi; for him,
it is very serious business. And, despite his old age, the chef is still trying
to improve and make better sushis.
This is a very compelling documentary that I
highly recommend. It is in Japanese, with English subtitles.
