This film is a prequel to the films The Mummy and The Mummy Returns,
and the action is set 5000 years before. It tells the story of Mathayus and of the
events that led him to be known as The Scorpion King.
This prequel is much lighter in substance than the first two modern Mummy
movies. It is a fast-paced action and adventure film, with a good dose of
humor. Dwayne Johnson was showing some potable acting chops, for something very
one dimensional, but it was a first effort. That movie is a fun ride while it
lasts.
