Peter Bowman is an engineer living and working, with his wife Alice, in the fictional South American country of Tecala. When Peter is kidnapped by a group of guerrilla rebels, Terry Thorne, a former member of the British Special Air Service and expert negotiator, comes to Tecala to negotiate the ransom and help Alice in the liberation of Peter.

While the premise of Proof of Life is interesting, and the action keeps you guessing and hooked to the story, the acting performances from Ryan and Crowe are absolutely uninspired. It felt like they never got emotionally invested in the plight of their characters. I simply did not feel it from them. David Morse was a little better here, though his part was smaller.
