This comedy special was Jay Mohr’s first in
over 7 years, and, in my humble opinion, he should have waited longer. For
close to an hour, this show went absolutely nowhere. It never did manage to
build any rhythm or momentum; it was all over the place. There were a few good
bits here and there; the rest was unfunny ramblings about a multitude of
unrelated subjects. The people in the crowd seemed to enjoy themselves; good
for them. The impressions were good, but they were not used to deliver anything
remotely funny. I’ll give the former SNL writer and cast member some props for
the few good jokes and the impressions, but it is not enough to give this show
a passing grade.
