Rocketman is a biographic musical based on the life of English musician, singer and songwriter Elton John. The film starts with Elton John coming into a rehab center dressed in flamboyant stage gear. He then looks back on his life, through flashbacks.

The story in Rocketman is not told in a straight, linear way. That it okay, as it is told in a way that fits Elton John perfectly. I usually do not like musicals, where people start singing in the middle of dialogue, but this one is so well done and the songs are so great. And, again, it fits Elton John completely.

Taron Egerton did such an amazing job in the lead role. After a short time, you forget that you are seeing an actor at work and it starts feeling like the real thing.

Overall, this is a wonderful film that I will be sure to see again.

Little (2019)

Jordan Sanders was heavily bullied in school as a teenager. Now an adult, she runs her own tech company and she has vowed not to take crap from anyone. In fact, she has become the bully herself, treating her staff like garbage. After Jordan screamed at her, a kid named Stevie puts a curse on Jordan, wishing that she turns back into a child. It works, and, the next day, Jordan’s mind is stuck into a 13 year-old girl’s body.

This film is not without charm and cuteness, with a sweet little end message to boot, but it is not nearly as funny as something billed as a comedy should be. The acting is decent, but this just feels like a cheap rehash that has become the norm nowadays. Moviemakers just reuse old premises with characters of a different gender or race. I wish they’d give women of all cultures more original material to work with, but, I’m not a decision-maker.

Pet Sematary (2019)

Louis Creed is a doctor from Boston who decides to move to the little town of Ludlow, Maine, with his wife and his two kids. While venturing in the wooded area behind their house, the family come upon a mysterious pet cemetery that will soon have a major impact on all of their lives.

Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, this remake offers a nice dark atmosphere and some good acting performances, but the end result remains a little lackluster. Something was missing here, unfortunately.
